 Actually, when comparing a 2008 demo 7 to a 2008 demo 8 the differences you speak of (excluding the headtube sizing) are caused by the shorter shock only. The demo 7 has a one degree *slacker htube angle (which would be caused by a shorter shock), a lower bb, and the same seat tube angle. So essentially everything you just stated is caused by the shock being shorter (whish is exactly what i said), therefore if you put a shorter shock on a demo 8, it becomes a demo 7 and the opposite is also true.

 seals are fine, of course its scratched, its used. The thing you see is not the steerer tube, it called a hedlock which is a through-bolt system that replaces the star nut. Im not selling it for 100.
